Thermal Insulation: Glass Fiber


Glass fiber insulation is a man made fibrous product manufactured from silicate sand and bonded together with specially formulated resins. Glass fiber insulation is available in flexible batts and rolls plain and faced by GCI, semi rigid and rigid boards also plain and faced by GCI and preformed pipe insulation plain and jacketed. It is the most widely used insulation in America. It offers flexibility, resiliency and superior thermal values. Application temperatures vary from -40°C(-40°F) to+535°C(1000°F). All Fiberglass products listed below can be faced and/or fabricated by GCI.

 
 

PIPE COVERING

MICRO-LOK PIPE INSULATION

Micro-Lok fiber glass pipe insulation is made from glass fibers bonded with a thermosetting resin and produced in 36" (0.92 m) lengths. Jacketed with a reinforced vapor retarder facing and a factory-applied, longitudinal acrylic adhesive closure system, Micro-Lok is designed for application temperatures from 0°F to 850°F (-18°C to 454°C). Section joints are sealed with butt strips which are supplied from the factory.

PIPE AND TANK INSULATION

GCI PIPE AND TANK INSULATION

GCI Pipe and Tank insulation is made from high density rigid glass fiber board insulation cut into strips of different thicknesses and widths and laminated to aluminum foil-scrim-kraft (FSK) or white All-Service-Jacket (ASJ) to procure a flexible roll used for insulation large diameter pipes and vessels.

Micro-Flex Large Diameter Pipe and Tank Wrap is a 2.5 pcf (40.1 kg/m3) density product made from high temperature, semi-rigid fiber glass blanket bonded to a flexible facing. Shipped in roll form, Micro-Flex's unique fiber orientation gives it increased compressive strength, and permits close installation on round surfaces without reducing the thickness of insulation resulting in a loss of insulating efficiency.

OFI 40 FSK

OFI 40 FSK Board is a thermal and acoustical rigid fiber glass insulation board with a foil/scrim/kraft vapour retarder attached to one face. This thermo-set resin bonded fibre glass insulation contains a high content of recycled glass. The factory applied FSK facing makes for a neat finished appearance in all applications. Density is 40 Kg/m3 (2.5 lbs/cu.ft).

OFI HT BLANKET

OFI HT Blanket insulations are off-white, non-combustible inorganic glass fibers bonded with a low percentage of thermosetting resin. HT blankets will not corrode (steel, copper, aluminum), rot, promote fungus and are moisture resistant. HT blankets are easy to handle, cut with a knife and install. HT Types 1 & 2 are designed for use on industrial equipment operating at temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C). Type 1 can be used on panel systems, as a flexible wrap, on industrial ovens.
